To help you out, and boost your confidence straight away, I will share with you my favorite 5 tips regarding choosing a strong corporate profile portrait.
5 tips to create effective corporate portraits:
First impressions are everything! Great Corporate Portraits that state who you are, what you and your company stands for can, and will, make a difference!
1st Tip:
CHOOSE A PHOTO THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU
I know how it sounds, but I’m serious. Have you ever had the experience of first seeing someone’s LinkedIn picture online, then meeting them in person only to find that they look completely different (for better…or for worse)? If yes, you know it can be startling and even make you question their credibility. So, make sure your profile picture is up-to-date (within a year) and reflects how you look on a daily basis – your hair, glasses, makeup, etc.
What will be the result?
People love knowing that you look as you present yourself on your online profiles.
It’s an automatic positive win.
2nd Tip:
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FACE IS CLEARLY SEEN IN THE FRAME
Don’t be the person that has a picture of herself/himself walking in the distance in the park. It’s great that you love nature (me too! I love it!) but I still would have no idea what you look like.
If you are worrying how to pose for your profile picture, concentrate on your expression. Then crop the picture from the top of your shoulders to just above your head so that your face fills the frame and shows off your friendly smile.
What will be the result?
It will elongate you in photos, it will also gives you an aura of
strength and confidence, which is naturally alluring.
3rd Tip:
CHOOSE THE RIGHT EXPRESSION
Smile with your eyes. Always. On your profile picture you want to appear strong yet approachable, warm and friendly.
Avoid looking too serious (aka scary). You don’t have to wear a big goofy grin, but a friendly natural smile will do wonders.
What will be the result?
Exude approachability. That way, your clients will be able to imagine having a pleasant conversation with you.
4th Tip:
DRESS UP FOR THE JOB YOU WANT
Wear clothes that match your job title, or even better the job title your are dreaming of. Think big!
If you work at a startup and wear sporty jumpers everyday (that’s great for you), still you should probably step it up a notch. You don’t want to be over or under-dressed.
Note: Solid colors tend to do best on camera (step away from patterns).
What will be the result?
Show your quality. your style speaks before you do!
5th Tip:
UPDATE YOUR PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT ONCE A YEAR
You may look fantastic in that old portrait you took 5 years ago, but you don’t want a new client, connection or a recruiter expecting someone entirely different, should you ever meet face to face. If you are meeting with someone who has been viewing your LinkedIn profile whether it would be at a networking convention or a job interview it’s important for your profile photo to look like you on your best day.
If you have a drastic change in job position, hairstyle/color, weight, or if you feel like you’re looking more mature than in your current profile photo, it’s time to update it. Your LinkedIn photo helps build trust and authenticity. You would hate for a perspective employer to question the accuracy of your resume based upon the inaccuracy of your LinkedIn profile photo.
Note: Change your corporate portrait at least once per year. It’s an asset to have great professional online presentation that’s up to date. Schedule it ahead of time and put it into your planing.
What will be the result?
You show that you care! People who change their corporate
profile picture more than once a year, are seen as more committed to their work,
trust wordy and more actively seeking professional growth.
THIS IS IT! Now you know my favorite 5 tips to take the best corporate profile portrait. You are ready to take the best shot at taking that important portrait yourself, or book a corporate photo session with 2 up to 4 portraits with a photographer you have, or can have a soulful connection with. Take action today! Or plan it and make sure that you show up for yourself…. You deserve it!
