“First thing my friends know about me is that I am very difficult to satisfy. I think this has probably to do with my sense for perfection. As a person I always want to give the best of myself, so in a certain way the result is never as I would like it to be; perfection doesn’t exist, right? Against all odds, this photo session surprised me, which is not common. I am modelling for a couple of years now, I worked with different photographers, and I can say that this photo session is one of the most successful. The session wasn’t as usual, it was different. Not only the theme that was chosen was revolutionary to me, that I would describe as ‘middle age-period’, but also the lights on the pictures as the face expressions I had on the portraits were different from what I did in the past.

Today it is all about making the difference, being different, doing something where you need the guts, but also courage to take the risk of doing things differently, and taking the risk that what you’re doing will not please everyone. Expressing yourself is important, that’s the key to become a good artist. Marta did this with this photo session.

Concerning me, I am very pleased and grateful that our ways crossed and that I got the opportunity to work with her. Not only did Marta give me the opportunity to acquire more experience as a model, but also I learned about myself, that I could do something different, that I was able to express something else, less serious expression, but more fragile. On top of that, I got a new friend at the end of this journey.

I would definitely recommend a Photo Session with Marta. The main reason for that is that she isn’t considering you ‘just’ as a model. She really tries to understand you; which are the difficulties for a model during a photo session, and she takes that into account while she is asking you to take poses.

I remember an uncomfortable pose; the one where I am sitting in a pink dress, watching behind my shoulder and at the same time curving my back to look at the camera. In contrast to what it seems, this pose is totally unnatural. I had to hold my breath, because my chest was so twisted and curved (to see my backbone) that it wasn’t even possible to breath, but we needed to do this for the pictures so that we had my face and my back on the same portrait. Marta totally got that and she adapted her work tempo so that it wouldn’t be too complicated for me to hold the pose. As a model you feel less alone. This session was more a real team work, which motivated me to give the best of myself. It really felt as a part of this project.

Before starting the shoot, Marta told me that there wasn’t a make-up artist or hairdresser. Based on my previous experiences, shoots without professional make-up results in pictures of a model that looks sick on the pictures (I am talking about me of course). I know my skin, and I know how it looks like without make-up while using a professional camera where the light is different. Notwithstanding and against all odds, the result of the portraits was magnificent. There again it proves that I worked with a real professional. What I also want to add, is despite no hairdresser, Marta showed me her talents and made of my long hair a nice middle-age hairdo. Being able to multitask is always appreciated and certainly in the world of fashion where you are mostly working with a team of people where unforeseen circumstances are common.

However the best thing about this Photo Session was the mutual understanding; we were immediately on the same level. Marta is very clear in what she expects from the model, she gave very good directions. This makes it much easier for a model to take the right poses. I think she really prepares before having a shoot, which can only result in a good final result.”
