According to Ayurvedic philosophy, choices that you make regarding your daily routine either build up resistance to disease or tear it down. Warm lemon water had been part of my morning routine for few years now. I’m starting every day, when possible, with warm lemon water and this simple habit has changed my life. There are many health benefits of lemons. The two big factors are:
lemons are strong antibacterial, antiviral, and immune boosting
lemon juice is a digestive and liver cleanser.
Lemons contain calcium, magnesium, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pectin and limonene, that promote immunity and fighting infections.
HOW TO DO IT:
You should be using purified water, and it should be lukewarm not scalding hot. Usually I mix half a glass of cold water with half a glass of hot water. I add juice from freshly squeeze lemon, some mint leaves and ginger. You want to avoid ice cold water, since that can be a lot for your body to process and it takes more energy to process ice cold water than the warm. Always use fresh lemons, organic if possible, never bottled lemon juice.
HOW TO DO IT:
I squeeze 1/2 lemon with each glass, and I drink it down first thing before I eat a single thing, have my coffee, meditate, do yoga… or workout, etc.
BONUS: try adding freshly grated ginger, few fresh mint leaves, or a little cayenne for a boost.
