Our makeup artist ensures that all clients have perfect makeup and hairstyles before they appear in front of the lens.
You will work on assignments for:
Personal and or corporate portrait photography sessions;
Live interviews on diverse social media profiles
The work involves creating makeup and hairstyles according to a predefined brief. You will interpret the makeup requirements to produce a creative and technically accurate result. The range of styles goes from natural makeup for most of our clients, through to more complex creative makeup for special occasions.
Up-to-date knowledge of available makeup products
Practical understanding of lighting, colors, and impact of hair and makeup in a composition
Producing ideas for hairstyles and make-up
Address and minimise side effects from use of specialist makeup or hairdressing techniques
Time management: estimate time to makeup, working quickly and accurately under pressure
Follow style guidelines and check with photographer for approval
Participate in the social media promotion
Hairdressing, fitting and maintaining wigs and hairpieces
Sourcing, budgeting, and ordering materials from specialist suppliers
Wednesdays from 12h30 to 16h30.
Thursdays and Fridays from 14h to 18h.
You need to be on set before photo sessions start, and remain available on set throughout the shoot. When there are no photo sessions planned, you will be participating in supporting and creating relevant content for Marta Hurtado Photography.
Most sessions happen in the studio with rare exceptions outdoors. You must be able to carry your toolset, and when on location, assist the photographer with her equipment.
Academic qualifications are not as important as is the love for what you do, bring your good humor, creativity and practical skills.
That said, you need to be experienced in:
Most people entering this field have taken a course in both makeup and hairdressing. An understanding of photography, film and video production techniques, camera and lighting processes, and fashion trends will be an asset.
Relevant work experience is desirable, like working in a beauty or hair salon, working in a photography studio, being a lead makeup and hair stylist during a portrait photo session, any relevant work placements or relevant unpaid work.
